Thank you for visiting my election website. I applaud your effort to make an educated decision by learning about me and my platform. I’m grateful for resident support and confidence through my first term in office. I am an accessible, experienced leader and would be honored to further my community service on the City Council.
I was born in Idaho and moved frequently as my father served in the United States Navy. After military service, my family settled in Utah then moved to Washington State. I attended Brigham Young University where I met and married my husband, Corey. We're the parents of six children ages seven to seventeen.
We moved to Herriman in 2003 after falling in love with the friendly neighborhood, parks and trails and small-town community feel. Our family-owned business, Aspen Hills Mortgage, is based in Herriman. I truly enjoy volunteer service; past opportunities included school PTA/PTO organizations, the Rose Creek Owner's Association, and Healthy Herriman and Be Ready Herriman city committees. Since election to the Herriman City Council in 2011, I have gained experience, represented resident’s concerns and desires, and have kept my previous campaign pledges of accessibility, fiscal discipline and engaged leadership.
I believe in ACCESSIBLE government. Residents may contact me through social media, email, or on my cell phone. I attend every public council meeting and serve at every city event to be available to the citizens. As a volunteer, I developed the city’s Facebook and Twitter outreach and Council Meeting video live-streaming. Please contact me at any time; I’d love to discuss any issues with you!
I have the knowledge and EXPERIENCE necessary to understand issues facing the city and continue my effectiveness as a Council Member. I support city economic development, careful land use planning, and fiscal discipline to ensure long-term city sustainability. Additional priorities include public safety and infrastructure management and preserving our quality of life in Herriman.
I am engaged with city staff and outside committees alike to understand Herriman issues and represent constituent viewpoints. I developed and still lead the Be Ready Herriman emergency committee, coordinate an emergency drill program, recruit and train CERT teams, and form partnerships between community groups and public safety officials. In addition to my Council duties, I am honored to represent Herriman City in LEADERSHIP capacities to the following committees and boards throughout the valley:
- Current Board Chair of the Wasatch Front Waste and Recycling District (WFWRD, formerly Salt Lake County Sanitation).
- Policy Committee Member for the Camp Williams Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) and Implementation Committees
- Association of Municipal Councils representative
- Legislative Policy Committee voting member, Utah League of Cities and Towns
- Council Liaison and chair of the Be Ready Herriman committee since 2007
- Riverton Senior Center Accreditation Committee Member
- Delegate to the International Council of Shopping Centers convention for economic development
I would be honored to further my community service on the Herriman City Council. Please re-elect Coralee on November 5, 2013.
